Thank you dear God for giving me a FUN-filled and FULL-filled semester!!
I’m so glad that I’ve been given the opportunity to serve in CF. I feel that I’m worth something when I serve God, there is so much meaning and purpose to live for, everyday I looked forward to the practices and meetings. But that always involve the first decision - whether we are willing or not.

Dance preparation for Christmas Event

All CF-ians who went for the camp were in high spirits as they enter into the new semester. To have an early Christmas event would be nice as we can share the true meaning of Christmas with our fellow UTAR-ians. Thus, the theme was “The reason for the season”

Weeks before the event, the dancers practised three times a week in south lobby after 5pm. Kevin Khoo was our teacher and choreographer. We would start with warm-ups and stretches. Then, he would demonstrate dance steps and ask us to follow. All seems ‘kacang putih’ for him, but for us we have to learn step-by-step and follow the beat. We’ll usually dance in front of the glass panel after dark and watch our reflection to see our own movements and the formation. Whenever he spots a mistake he will tell us and ask us to dance again. His friend, ah Boon came once and taught us the muachi part aka the ‘shake-shake-part’. We were constantly told to familiarise with the steps so that we can put in some ‘style’ in the dance. The most fun and challenging part is the break. It was quite tough at first, many practices were required for us to get it and be flexible. We were supposed to get down on the floor to break and pose at the right timing. In the process, most of us got blue-blacks on our knees and elbows because of the hard marble floor. Oouch!! But practising and watching each other dance was fun!! We have to coordinate and synchronise our actions with the music and we surely got to know each other better during eating sessions after practises. The preparation for the dance was both enjoyable and tiring, but it was all worth the experience.

camp after thoughts

What can I say about SLaE Camp? Just one word- GREAT!!

God has stretch my faith as I get involved in organizing this camp, yes there were a lot of last minute changes and arrangements to be made, but it’s all worth it to see everything woven together in His mighty hands.

No matter how disorganized I think or fear it will be, He was still in control.
Thank God for the supportive committee members and those who stepped in to help spontaneously, you know who you are and I am truly grateful for that!

This is the camp where I got closer to God through the 5.30am morning prayer. At first, I felt obliged rather than willing. I thought to myself “ Huh? 5.30AM? Omg, but what to do…I’m the vice camp commander, no choice, must go…” *sigh* The next day when the alarm clock rang I was still reluctant, I could hardly open my eyes and my tired body still cling on to the bed, but Lee Ping persistently woke me up. And so I went. It was only a small group but the presence of God is so strong. We joined hands to worship and pray. It was really refreshing and I felt recharged! Surprisingly I had the strength to carry on for the whole day.

So I made it a point to wake up for every morning prayer even though I was late or had little sleep the night before. Thank you Lee Ping( my GA) for waking me up and even accompanying me for every morning! She has indeed taken good care of me. She refills my water bottle and even brings it right up to me( like ah ma) and force me to drink. Haha. Otherwise I guess I would have gotten a sore throat or fallen sick because not enough H2O.

Another thing that happen to me was I could pray and sing in tongues at the last session, it just flow out of me and it’s just like what Pastor Keith said, from the heart, bypassing the mind to speak directly to God! Unlike at times when I’m so conscious about what I speak, whether I am imitating others or whether my mind is controlling my tongue and things like that… yeah so hallelujah, it’s a personal break through for me.

Other than that, I really had lots of fun together with the campers! usually the committee members do not get involve in games but that's where all the fun is!! Especially during captain ball at the beach, talent time, meals where we had all the fellowship and laughters. for the record, we learnt- PASSION, Attitude, Faith, Journey of a Dream during sermon sessions and to Soar like an Eagle! Isaiah 40:31 during devotions =)

Preparation for CF camp

At one of the meetings, Angel announced that CF is planning a camp for the second year. The announcement was responded with mixed reactions. Some were enthusiastic while some were less so. Nevertheless, a committee was formed. Mary and I were appointed as the camp commnader and vice. having been attending camps year in and out, i must confess i'm getting 'bored' with the usual stuff... i thought to myself, i have enough of receiving, now it's time to get involved and serve, so i readily accept the post and responsibilities.

Having learnt the lesson from the first CF camp, we knew that everything is in God’s hand. The camp committee then gathered to pray together with Ms Esther and Ms Elise before deciding on the theme, date and venue for the camp. We seek God for direction and He revealed a vision! The theme “Soar Like An Eagle” based on Isaiah 40:31 was chosen because it was in-line with the camp objectives.

The next task is to write a proposal to the Department of Student Affairs (DSA). Committee members start preparation by planning the program and working out the finances, enquiring about the campsite, room rates, meals, bus services and sponsorship, designing posters and T shirts, looking up devotional materials, and inviting speakers for the camp. All information and necessary details were gathered and the proposal was submitted to DSA.

After a few weeks, the camp was finally approved. Publicity and registration was carried out in PJ, Sg Long and Setapak campus respectively. The faculty representatives collected the camp fees and registration forms. During the holidays, the worship team gathered to practiced and learned new songs. The games coordinator planned and prepared the activities. Committee members fasted and prayed 7 days before the camp and frequently update each other through emails, phone calls and sms. Whenever there is a change, the committee members have to be informed and new plan of action have to be made. God is good and He hears our prayers. We learnt not to hope on men because men will disappoint but to place our hope in God. We thank God that He sees us through every obstacle and last minute changes. It is important to seek Him first because no matter how well we prepare, we know that at the end of the day, God is in control and His plans will prevail. =)
