Open Sesame

What comes to your mind when your class ends early? The thought that came to my mind on that particular day was YEAH!!! I can go home and take a nice cool shower, spend time with my lovely pillow, blanket, bed, radio and pc and finish up some assignments.
But this was not to be… I reached my house and couldn’t open the door!! It was not because I didn’t have the key, but it was because one of my housemate accidentally locked it the wrong way (ok, it’s difficult to explain).
I was the first to reach home and no one was home… what should I do? Sit outside and wait for the rest to come back? Even then, what can be done? There is no way to open it unless we call someone to dismantle the grill (serious!!) *gasp* how much would it cost? What happen after that? Sleep without grills that night?
I called up all my housemates to inform them about the seriousness of the situation while I waited at a friend’s house.
When my housemates came back, all of them tried to open the door but to no avail. Just imagine the anxieties, frustrations and agonies; we were so near yet so far to get into our house. How I wish we could just say the magic word “open sesame” (Ali Baba and the cave story) and the door would fling open!!
There was really no other way at that point.
Then the hero appeared.
My housemate’s boyfriend (who was there throughout the whole scenario) decided to climb the walls to get in from the balcony. Our condo unit is on the 2nd floor, which is 3 storey from the ground floor. He sought the help of the security guard, got a rope and started climbing. Thank God he succeeded and nothing untoward happened. *phew*
So, what’s the moral of the story? Home security is important to prevent break-ins, but do make sure that you will not be locked out of your own house and have to break-into your own house. Haha….it may seem funny, but it happened to us…
