Simplicity is the way of life

I’m learning all over again to be simple, not to complicate things or worry unnecessarily about the unforeseen circumstances of the future, about my forthcoming external examinations. All my burdens and stress I’ve decided to let loose my fist and lay it all down at the foot of the cross. Believe me it was a struggle before I made this decision, in the past month I’ve been far way from God the father, forsaking quiet time and reading of His word, loosing sight of His grace, living my life I thought I could fully control. Sigh. It always takes a wrong turning for me to realize that this is not the way I want to go on. It was energy sapping, stressful and worrisome.

All I needed was peace and wisdom and it is not something the world can give. Satisfaction, fulfillment and accomplishment are among other things I’ve been striving for… but then again, by what standards am I living up to? To other people’s expectation? And does it matter that much? Oh yes indeed, coz I want to jaga face, or in other words I have my little pride to care for.

But hey it’s really not worth it. Who cares anyway? After awhile the memory of it all will fade away. Last Sunday, pastor kee says all of us will leave a legacy behind, but what kind of influence-whether good or bad that matters. And we should invest our one and only life in things that are eternal i.e. into lives of people… not in earthly things that will rot or rust or just to raise the envy of our neighbours. Yes it is nice to earn a handsome sum and able to afford luxury living and stuff to show the world that we’re competitive in life, but we must never forget the source of it all, our giver of life first gave us and we are merely stewards of His gifts… whether much or little He entrust us we should give thanks and count our blessings.

So life is simple anyway, if we just allow it… to have a child-like faith and see things through God’s eyes. Yes it requires patience, as we tend to think that God is slow moving and we get anxious and agitated when things seem to look bleak and there is no answer. Well again I’m reminded that His ways are higher than mine and how can my finite mind comprehend His awesome wonder? We’re simple beings afterall.
